  • Lemongrass essential oil is a safe and potent insecticide. It contains citronellol and geraniol, and is effective against a wide range of biting insects.

  • Rosemary helps repel certain blood-sucking insects that can spread harmful viruses and bacteria. In studies when rosemary oil was measured against 11 other essential oils, it had the longest repellent effect on mosquitoes.
  • Rosemary oil is similarly effective as the chemical insecticide bifenthrin for controlling the spread of black-legged ticks.

  • Peppermint is a natural rodent and insect repellent.

  • The major compounds found in peppermint oil include terpene, alcohol and menthol. Each one is a natural fumigant through smell. Insects and rodents’ smell receptors pick up on the compounds and are repelled effectively.
  • Many studies conclude that menthol is as effective at repelling mosquitoes as DEET.

  • Rose geranium oil contains 10-epi-gamma-eudesmol, which works to repel ticks.
  • As per the studies conducted by the National Centre For Biotechnology Information, it is confirmed that the use of rose geranium essential oil is an effective way to repel ticks.

    Even repels Florida mosquitoes

I think mosquitoes should be the state bird of Florida. I hate reeking of bug spray in the summer but cannot be out at night without it. Then I tried this spray. 1. it is slightly minty which makes it not smell like I swam in citronella. 2. That “mintiness” made my arms feel cooler somehow- yes pls 3. The mosquitoes would come near and then just fly away.

    Works like a charm!

Now that we live in the south, the mosquitos are attacking us! I bought the usual bug repellent sprays and the bugs would not. One continue to bite my kids, but the kids would choke on the aerosol and chemicals in the sprays.

The Pure & Peaceful Insect and Tick repellant not only keeps the bugs away, but it smells divine and my kids are happy to have it on them. It is light, non-sticky and lasts for hours! Even my lotion hating husband likes the way it dries invisible on his skin! We're going to keep this is stock at all times in our home!
